Summary

Conduct operations and perform training for small UAS platforms.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operation of Maveric UAS, VTOL, and potentially other platforms
  • Train new users and assist with the improvement of the training program
  • Work with Project Leads and Program Managers to ensure overall objectives, schedule, and deliverables are met
  • Plan and direct the bench, ground, and flight tests for a variety of UAS platforms
  • Manage facilities, equipment, and test assets
  • Develop and maintain test plans and procedures
  • Document and report operations and experience
  • Conduct pre-flight briefings and post-flight debriefings
  • Manage and document system test configurations
  • Participate in configuration control decisions and equipment anomaly investigations
  • Communicate with novice users and advance users at the appropriate level
  • Outgoing personality that intelligently represent the products and company
  • Able to travel to customer’s location to perform demonstrations and training
  • Able to travel abroad

Recommended Skills

  • Experience with other hand-launched small UAS, and operational scenarios
  • Advanced extended UAS operation and CONOP development
  • Military training or instructor experience
  • Experience with radio controlled airplanes and helicopters
  • Experience with network and radio communication
  • Mechanical repair skills, including composites construction and fabrication
  • Class-2 FAA medical certificate, or eligibility to obtain

Summary

Conduct general engineering and design of aircraft structures and aero-mechanical system on small UAS.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Engineering and design of aerodynamic structures and mechanical systems for small UAS and payload systems
  • SolidWorks modeling of components and designs
  • Analysis and material selection of designed components
  • Designs targeting highly constrained size, weight, and power environments
  • Attend and present design reviews
  • Transition from SolidWorks models to tooling or rapid prototyping
  • Facilitate rapid creation of initial parts, learn in-house processes
  • Work closely with other engineers, technicians, manufacturers, and suppliers supporting current designs
  • Develop manufacturing procedures for designed components
  • Support flight test operations, and develop bench and flight test procedures
  • Some travel may be required
  • Use industry standards for drawings and drawing control systems

Required Skills

  • A MS or BS degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
  • Practical experience in Aerodynamics, Mechanical Systems, Materials
  • Experience with SolidWorks
  • Experience with air foil modeling (e.g., XFOIL)
  • Experience with MATLAB and Simulink based modeling

Summary

Conduct engineering and design of the software subsystems required on small UAS. These areas include platform control, mission planning, image processing, wired and wireless network data transfer, payload control, and data analysis.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, code, test, and provide ongoing support for system software to meet technological and customer requirements including tools for data reduction and analysis
  • Define and analyze system software design requirements and write software requirements documents to meet defined and anticipated customer needs and system quality and performance standards
  • Write software integration and test plans; conduct and lead software verification, testing and integration efforts to identify required modifications and ensure optimum system performance at delivery
  • Document designs with project reports, written descriptions, and engineering drawings
  • Develop reusable software and system components, and integrate these into existing and new designs
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers in planning, design and development of systems to ensure software and hardware performance and compatibility
  • Develop interface definitions in conjunction with design team and enforce interface control documents to record and validate system performance standards and results
  • Lead and participate in software Design Reviews to ensure team progress against milestones are met and to maintain highest quality level within project schedules
  • Serve as technical lead on projects as assigned, working with customers to meet deliverables and address and resolve technology or system issues
  • Support flight test operations (some travel may be required)

Required Skills

  • A MS or BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or equivalent
  • Practical experience in programming and debugging
  • Experience with C and C++
  • Experience with embedded systems programming
